Today students will wrap up our introduction to the NetSmartz Kids with a visit to the site, NetSmartzKids. Students will choose between the activities on the site for 20 minutes of independent access time. Please see below for the skill sets being assessed during such activities. It may look like they are just playing, but they are definitely doing more than that - they are learning, making decisions, experiencing cause and effect, and... yes, they are having a great time!
Assessment
During this class, students will be assessed on the following:
Troubleshooting - were they able to assess and address any problems with the computer? (Was it turned off, was it running a scan, did someone before them forget to close out?)
Website Access - were they able to identify the icon that would take them to the internet? Did they know where to type in the website address? (In the address box, not in a search box)
Did they type in the web address correctly? (Did they spell it correctly, remember not to put spaces between words)
Were they able to find where to plug in their headphones and adjust the sound? Did they know how to unmute if necessary?
Were they able to navigate the site independently?
Were they able to load videos?
Were they able to read and learn the rules of the games?
Did they understand the symbol indicating a video was loading?
Did they know to hover over icons to identify their purpose?
Did they work independently without asking for more guidance than is readiness appropriate?
Did they stay on the instructed site?
If they moved to a location on the site, did they know how to get back home?
